Solid state relays (SSRs) feature a compact size, low input power consumption, contactless operation, no sparks, no noise, no mechanical wear, excellent vibration resistance, and an exceptionally long service life. SSR has a small control signal that controls a larger load current or voltage. It consists of a sensor which responds to an appropriate input (control signal), a solid-state electronic switching device which switches power to the load circuitry, and some coupling mechanism to enable the control signal to activate this switch without mechanical parts. Solid state relays (SSRs) should be installed in a well-ventilated location away from heat sources. If the ambient temperature is excessively high or heat dissipation conditions are poor, the operating current margin should be increased to ensure uniform and effective heat dissipation for the solid state relay.
